BKFC 59 Albuquerque results

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – The Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) returns to Albuquerque and Tingley Coliseum on Friday night. John “The Magician” Dodson headlines the BKFC 59 card when he defends his flyweight belt against Dagoberto Aguero.

Dodson (3-0 BKFC, 3 KO), faced his toughest bare knuckle opponent to date in Aguero. This was the first BKFC fight in Dodson’s career that did not end in an early knockout as it went the distance. After five rounds, the judges deemed the fight a unanimous draw.

Dodson won the first round of the fight, but fell behind with losses in rounds two and three. He was able to come back in rounds four and five, but didn’t do enough to claim an outright victory in the eyes of the judges.

“Just disappointed,” Dodson said. “I’m more disappointed in myself for not letting the fans get what they wanted, they wanted to see a first-round knockout and I didn’t deliver. I just walked into the punch and let it sit me down. It’s my own fault. I do it.” I got it out in the fourth and fifth and that’s what helped me get the draw.”

Both Aguero and Dodgson said they hoped for a rematch in the future. A date and location remain to be seen.

In the co-main event, Donald Sanchez of Albuquerque enters the squared circle against Dallas Davidson. Sanchez played slow for the first two rounds, but turned it on in the third, winning by knockout.

“You know, I feel great, my city supports me a lot,” Sanchez said. “People say I’m getting better as I get older, but I’m just getting better and showing up in every fight and that’s three knockouts in a row. We are ready to win the world title.”
