ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – After winning the BKFC welterweight title in February, Austin Trout is now switching his focus to coaching. Trout is one of three coaches for this season’s Houston Hitmen who compete in the Team Combat League. The TCL officially begins this weekend, but Trout’s hitmen won’t open the TCL’s second season until April 11.

Trout has enjoyed coaching the team’s 24 athletes and says coaching and technique are key to these TCL events, as each team has 24 fighters fighting in separate three-minute rounds. “When you have a fighter that does what that fighter does well, you try to exploit the good things and try to fix the bad things, it’s pretty easy. We have 24 fighters who all do something well and all do something else, and they’ve got 24 fighters, so you just have to pick the best”, Trout said.

Trout is excited to see his team in action and says fans can expect fireworks. “So, you can expect to see every round going to be explosive. We’ve got a squad that can really fight and they can really box. So we’re going to see a lot of stoppages, and knockouts, you know what I mean, we’re bringing everything”, Trout said.
