Warm and breezy weather for the Easter weekend

Friday morning got off to a warm start. Temperatures are in the 30s, 40s and 50s across the state with partly cloudy skies. Clouds will clear, skies will be mostly sunny today. Temperatures will be warmer than Thursday with highs in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Winds are light in most places this morning, but winds will pick up by this afternoon. Eastern New Mexico will experience gusts of around 35-40 mph, while the rest of the state will experience gusts of around 20-30 mph.

Winds will pick up on Saturday with gusts in excess of 40 to 55 mph across the state on Sunday. Bring your Easter festivities indoors on Sunday to avoid high winds and flying dust. In addition to power outages, wind damage can occur. Temperatures will be mild over the weekend. The next storm will begin bringing rain and snow to northern and western NM Sunday afternoon. Rainfall will spread across the state on Monday.
