Belen man pleads guilty in federal court to armed robberies of six Albuquerque businesses

BELEN, N.M. (KRQE) – A Belen man has pleaded guilty in federal court to the armed robberies of six Albuquerque businesses. The 30-year-old man, Brandon Sanchez, is a previously convicted felon and wanted for violating supervised release during the robbery, according to the U.S. Attorney for New Mexico.

In 2023, the following robberies took place in a span of six days:

  • January 4, 2023 – Little Caesars at Montgomery Boulevard and San Pedro Drive
  • January 4, 2023 – Subway at San Mateo Boulevard and McLeod Road
  • January 8, 2023 – Little Caesars at Montao Road and Fourth Street
  • January 9, 2023 – Starbucks at San Mateo Boulevard and Pan American Frontage Road
  • January 9, 2023 – Big 5 Sporting Goods at Wyoming Boulevard and Paseo del Norte
  • January 9, 2023 – Domino’s at Holly Avenue and San Pedro Drive.

At the time of the crime, Sanchez was on parole after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. That conviction came in 2022, and Sanchez served 27 months for the crime.

Now, Sanchez will be held pending sentencing. At sentencing, which has not yet been scheduled, Sanchez faces up to 20 years in prison and up to three years of supervised release.
