Zoe’s Wednesday afternoon forecast

Much drier weather arrived today after a very active, winter-like start to the work week. A few afternoon showers are possible across the northeast/east central part of the state while the rest of New Mexico will see plenty of sunshine with little or no chance for additional precipitation. High temperatures will be warmer than yesterday, but below average for late March.

The warming trend will pick up by tomorrow as a ridge of high pressure builds over the state. Slightly above normal high temperatures will return across the state, with even slightly higher cloud coverage. Although it could be windy on Thursday, windy weather will arrive on Friday as the jet stream passes over the state. Friday afternoon will see widespread gusts of 35-55 mph, which will warm the lower slopes and allow higher temperatures to warm even more – possibly the warmest atmosphere of the year to arrive on Friday. Albuquerque will likely see its first 70° day of the year.

Temperatures will be around average on Saturday with windy to blustery conditions. More wind will pick up on Sunday ahead of our next big storm system. More snow, rain, and a wide chance of cooler temperatures will return early next week, so enjoy the warm (albeit windy) weather while it lasts.
